Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

The Reality of AI Animal Content – Sedgwick County Zoo
If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably seen them – bears bouncing on trampolines, apes caught on doorbell cameras, or “rescued” wild animals acting in ways that seem too good to be…

Remember when it was too much WFH that was the problem? This is just that again – finding something to point at and blame. The fact that the economy is full of seasonal businesses that make their money in summer is studiously ignored. www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3609...

The summer shutdown is coming but should the Kiwi summer holiday still stay sacrosanct?

Andrew Coster "did the right thing" and "fell on his sword".
... he jumped before the public service enquiry could be finished and made public. He didn't fail to "ask questions' and "just trusted too much". He was NZs top policeman, it goes without saying he's a shit copper and an even shitter exec

Seymour: let's not make "assumptions" that a serious food safety incident is the responsibility of a company with a record of food safety incidents so bad that officials strongly warned against contracting it. Maybe it was the person who reported it! What a prick. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/christchu...

Rates increases in recent tears have been crazy, but this is just dumb, completely failing to address key reasons for those increases:
- decades on underinvestment that have left failing infrastructure whose replacement can't be delayed any further
- central govt offloading costs onto local govt
Watch: Christopher Luxon faces questions amid speculation over rates cap policy
The government's long-awaited rates cap is likely to start with minimum increases of two percent and a maximum of four percent, and would take effect from the start of 2027.
