I left twitter the day musk signed the deal. No regrets. I'm hear to cautiously listen and hopefully laugh. Within two hours of joining, 2 adult accounts followed me with promises. Wow, I do remember how to block & LOL. I've enjoyed a nice scroll otherwise. We'll see how this goes.

Woke up this morning remembering how, after Kerry's 2004 loss to W, the Democratic party and the press decided it was abortion's fault. When I tell you that this is not an exaggerated memory:

You're goddamn right I think there's a real chance Matt Gaetz gets confirmed as AG. Never, EVER put your faith in the better angels of Republican politicians. A "moderate Republican" is like a light cigarette. It might go down smoother, but they'll still fucking kill ya in the end.

the DOGE agency will not have the authority to reallocate funds (nor would that be constitutional), it is a PR tool to create the impression that government spending is inherently wasteful and build political momentum for spending cuts
Hypothetical. I'm curious what people think. If the DOGE agency worked on the premise that half of all savings in a federal program were distributed as increased benefits to qualified recipients, would you consider the details ?

My therapist self has had this conversation 40 times over the last week. Be good to yourself. Step away, play, rest, eat well, hydrate. Connect with other supportive people. Don't let this fuckery exhaust you. That's what they're after. It takes your energy, your joy & your agency. DON'T let them.

Brianna Wu went from being progressive straight to right-wing grifter, jumping the horseshoe gap instead of going through the center. She's an example of why grifters should be shunned even when you agree with them, because their loyalty is always to money over ideology.

Important to note that Texas partners with 37 states to access PDMP data. They could gain access to prescribing records even in blue states where abortion is legal if federal authorities move to schedule abortion drugs.

The media coverage I'm seeing/hearing about RFK is predictably infuriating. This is not a skeptic or a man with outsider views. This man is an anti-sciece crank who will get people killed. Treating him as anything less than risk to the health of millions is malpractice.

Let's keep everyone's dark secrets secret instead, so they can be used by our adversaries to blackmail people with access to sensitive national security information.

Q: What happens when you overpay for a social media platform, drive away most of your advertisers, alienate half its users, making it worth less than a third of what you paid for it within a year?

A: You get put in charge of government efficiency.

The largest ICE worksite raid in history, at a meatpacking plant in Mississippi in 2018, led to 680 arrests. It took dozens of agents, months of planning, thousands of man-hours, and likely cost several million bucks.

Keep that in mind when the Trump admin starts touting splashy numbers next year.
