I would emphasize that your excellent article makes it clear that having access to a well-stocked school library, staffed by a professional librarian, is a critical component of giving all kids access to books, both important and un-.

My library serves grades 6-12. I have 11th grade boys who almost came to blows over the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I have coined this "comfort reading." Let remember read what brings them joy.
