I can't adequately express my fury and disgust at Maitliss, Barnes et al.
Staggering arrogance, personal prejudice and there being nobody at the BBC prepared to challenge their errors led them to do the opposite of journalism.
As a consequence, children in despair took their own lives.

Not all radicalisation is negative or feeds on the darker parts of us.
For example, resisting fascism on behalf of humanitarian and democratic principles is a radical act.

It's both. Radicalisation gives them names, a blame map and focus for the feelings of anger, frustration and fears and hatreds that they've had swilling around for years.
This highly negative, destructive radicalisation only works on those who are already vulnerable.

The very same.
And also the same Robbie Gibb who had lobbied for Prescott to be taken on by the BBC as an external consultant.
It stinks.

Reform of the BBC has to go with wider media reform or we don't escape the situation where oligarch-owned, highly partisan, untruthful and effectively unregulated media is used to cudgel a truth-telling BBC.

What's the point of a publicly owned broadcaster that you can't trust? And what's the point of one you can trust but regulation of all other media is corrupt and/or useless ... and anyway that media belongs to anti-democratic oligarchs?
Tricky, isn't it.
Don't know what you got 'till it's gone.

Yes, exactly.
The right thing to do now would be to reform charter, board and DG selection and duties and ethical standards to take it completely and forever out of political influence.
Which is why Starmer won't do it.

That is precisely what this is intended to achieve.

There's an opportunity here to completely reform how the BBC is governed and run. It has to be guaranteed independent of political patronage and control.
That's great for the country and the BBC, but terrible for politicians.
I truly doubt Starmer has the guts to do it.
