One of my parents’ cats only likes my dad and Kid1 but this trip Kid1 is still recovering so his lap isn’t always available. Twice this evening she tried out mine, rejected it, then glared back at him like “you see what you’ve reduced me to??”

Weaving: Made it to the second panel of the blanket (knots were exactly as bad as expected)
Bobbin lace: Rainbow #2, the one with no boundaries, is underway
Knitting: 2nd square of afghan finished. Almost done turning the heel on my “live in my purse” socks

![We do have automatic translators, which is great! There are different ones for spoken and written language and we still don't have any that can handle signed languages effectively. (Starfleet did just fund another project for fingerspelling gloves, driving some of our linguists to profanity [Links to an external site]) The translators tend to slow down the conversation a bit and, for less well documented languages especially, often figurative language and idioms wrong, which is particularly awkward with politeness forms in diplomatic situations.
