If there is an accommodation so desirable that a problematic number of people are “faking” disability (doubt!!) to access it, that shows it’s an accommodation that could have wide social benefit is implemented in abundance. This is often the case with accommodations generally.

The UK is a culture undergoing a degradation that scarcely seems believable. For all the limitations, one wonders where the ideas of the 2012 Olympics went. That Britain trying to reinvent itself as part of a metropolitan future. We can point at economic conditions all day, but that misses a lot.

You could maybe get the philosophical belief protection for some subcultures, I guess.

No trainers in clubs is probably on the up and up though, unless someone makes a new religious movement with trainers as religious dress or something

Mhm, I mean it's so unlikely but I think you genuinely could argue against it on those grounds.

Things like subcultures are interesting to me as being on that borderline of being probably not covered by the EA but it being genuinely pretty nasty if a pub banned like goths or something

Indirect discrimination via this kind of thing is illegal but often harder to litigate.

If a characteristic isn't protected and isn't disproportionately linked with a given protected group then you can ban it. That's how schools ban 'unnatural' hair dye colours, non-earlobe piercings etc.

You might argue indirect discrimination against white people for natural blondes, I suppose!

Hair based discrimination does happen, but unsurprisingly it's mostly against black people, prohibiting afros or cornrows etc. in schools and workplaces as 'unprofessional', that sort of thing

I'll blame who I like, thanks.

They can afford it a lot better than I can, or a any other trans people. They could have tried.

Instead they've abandoned us. They're collaborators

yeah tbh I'm not moved by the cries of "but they don't want to!"

okay but they are. they're not even waiting for an actual complaint before rolling. whatever happened to, do not comply in advance? THIS IS COMPLYING IN ADVANCE. they are not being compelled here, they're choosing this!

It should still provide the basic 'you can't refuse service to this minority group just for existing' type protections, if a service is open to all it has to be open to us. Can't put up 'No Dogs, no Transes' signs in pubs
