The songs in Sinners are amazing, we know this. But I wanna give just special mention to the *score* of the movie, because honestly it's just as amazing.

I bet I could do the Long Walk. Just get in some practice beforehand, do some stretches, buy a fresh pair of New Balance. Hydrate.

Like, sorry to Stebbins and Pete and Hank, but how hard did you try?

Ayyyyyy I got to write a whole piece about Betty White swearing! Really dumb movie but I love it for White, Oliver Platt, and Brendan Gleeson. Basically the supporting cast in Lake Placid is way more interesting than the two leads.

I'm sorry, but how can Lake Placid be so criminally underrated when it has Betty White dropping lines like "If I had a dick, this is where I'd tell you to suck it" ??

Just finished Witchcraft for Wayward Girls and what a treat - a dark, terrible, encouraging, sad, moving treat. Grady Hendrix has cemented himself as one of my top modern authors, period, not just in horror.

I have another entry for my Ridiculous Comments Hall of Fame!

Published a piece on 28 Days Later where the last paragraph says, word for word, "28 Days Later didn't invent the fast zombie..."
June 24, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Without Resident Evil, we might not have 28 Days Later at all, let alone the surge in popularity of fast zombies.
Alex Garland’s Script for ‘28 Days Later’ Was Inspired by a Classic Horror Video Game Franchise

Expedition 33: We don't believe in too much of a good thing, we've included 57 versions of this one song and also you can play it on demand.

Me: *still has "Lumière" playing on repeat on every music platform available to her like it's the only song that currently exists*

Attempting to video call someone without at least a day's notice should be punishable by law. I am a goblin at heart, I need prep time to look and act like a normal human.

I have a soft spot for road horror, and 'In Fear' (2016) is a pretty harrowing take on it.
The Terrified Reactions of the Actors in This Disturbing Psychological Thriller Were 100% Real
When the actors are as scared as the audience, you know you've got a good movie.

If you are looking to do your part in saving democracy, I highly recommend you buy and read ONE book:

Howard Zinn’s a People’s History of America.

It’s a MUST read. It’s not for the faint of heart, but we are at war for the soul of this nation & you have to be hardened to face the fight

'Master' from 2022 is a little messy when it comes to its metaphors and ambiguity, but Regina King gives a great performance, and for a first-time director (Mariama Diallo) it's definitely got merit. Its message is also especially important right now, so check it out!

Regina Hall "masterfully" grapples with subtle and not-so-subtle racism in this tense horror.

Watched 'Screamers' for the first time (which for some reason I always mixed up with 'Phantoms' lol) and was pleasantly surprised. It's not great but it does have some great ambitions, and I respect that. Read more thoughts here:

Yeah, Hugh Grant is great in #Heretic but have you ever seen him cut a snake woman in half and then immediately fall into a drum set?
"The Lair of the White Worm" is absolutely batshit and I genuinely loved it. (It also has a LOT of weird sexual imagery, just a heads up)

Reading rec! Picked up Horror for Weenies on a whim for writing inspiration. Such a good combo of summary, analysis, and tongue-in-cheek humor. @emilyhughes.bsky.social knows how to express love for and great insight into these movies while still being hilarious about the bad bits. Super fun read!
