It seems that VW is trying to move away from Audi-fying Porsche chassis in the future, because they think the similarity is eating into potential Porsche revenue. This means that Audi will eventually just be upbadged VW, and you'd be better off optioning a cheaper VW than getting a base model Audi.

Yes, most EV AWD systems are usually programmed to run like most ICE AWD systems, where the second set of wheels only start receiving power when the main set loses traction. Ik Audi has the front wheels as the main ones, but Merc might use the rear instead.
