Musician, director, and all-round artsy person. Enthusiastic birder and meanderer. Seller of books.
I'm happy that the 250th anniversary of her birth is giving the opportunity to read that so many others feel the same. There's a great outpouring of admiration – most deserved, of course, but equally heartening to see. Thanks for everything, Jane.

Psst! Pumpkins are a treat for birds but can be harmful to hedgehogs. 🦔❌

Keep them high up out of reach and compost any leftovers to protect our garden wildlife.

He was also in a group of Russian composers called The Mighty Handful, which is an excellent name for a band (sometimes referred to as The Five, which is significantly less fun).

I really admire this particular Tunnicliffe. The barn owl is beautiful.

The caption made me think of the gorgeous (and seasonally appropriate!) song: 'October Twilight' 🌕 it is wistful and nostalgic autumnal loveliness.

Oh, bless you. Yes, still singing (just need to practice more consistently!), and generally well, too x

Yes, jumper on and drinking something warming!
I've almost finished and have loved every second of reading; from favourite haunts (there's something about Avebury in October that I adore) to new places to explore. And, as ever, I so admire your beautiful conversations with people. Thank you, Peter!

My hopes were met and, having headed south into Europe, I got to see the last few swifts of my year in Florence! A lone one 25/08, and a couple yesterday 27/08 – all above Oltrano 🧡

My last sighting was 15/08: 2 swifts over the house – a beautiful surprise, just when I thought they'd all left!
