Another #FreyaFriday because she's too cute not to post. Here she is renovating her cardboard mansion 🏠

It's #FreyaFriday! Content as can be in a pile of crumpled up paper. Trash queen😻

Impossible to resist this very boopable snoot. (I promise this hasn't turned into a purely cat-based account. Writing and editing content will return at some point!)

It's my new office assistant's first day, and so far she's spent the whole time slacking off! 🐈

Tempting to do one of those "Oh, wow. Elon Musk getting involved in the politics of my local constituency wasn't on my 2025 bingo card" type posts, but tbh, nothing the man does surprises me now.

One of the great things about being self-employed: I was able to take an impromptu trip to London yesterday and go mudlarking the winter sun. I’m happy we moved away, but I sure do miss this place a lot!

Just preordered @madeleinevasaly.com's "The Proofreader’s Guide to Comic Book Style". Am so looking forward to having all this knowledge collected in one book!

Have been finding Toggl really useful for keeping track of working hours (and keeping me on track during them!). But it always feels a bit dramatic when I have to go back and add something and this pops up... 😂 I can't help but read it with a "?!"

And, finally, joining a workshop by Yasmin Cousins (www.yasmincousins.com) to make this cool as hell mug and bookmark to take home. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday!

Had a lovely day at the Women in Horror event at Waterstones Nottingham today, and came home with a bag full of books and swag! My highlights included...

We spent the evening boarding and sleeving all of our comics, then organising them in a new storage box. The things you do in your late thirties... (Had to keep "The Deviant" 1 & 2 aside for something dark to read!)

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🖤

Finally gave in and replaced my ten-year-old Kindle last week with a lovely new one. Also gave in to the urge to start the Throne of Glass series. You might notice I'm already on book two...

Ten years ago today, I went on a first date with a guy I met online. Little did I know I was in for the greatest adventure of my life. Ten years later and while lots around us has changed, we're still here! (Happy anniversary, @solivagant.bsky.social!) ❤️

Not quite as magical as back in May (the picture below) but still a thrill to see them!

A cheeky glimpse of the Northern Lights from our back garden (even in an area full of light pollution!)

Traumatised by this film as a child and traumatised again tonight, watching it at a special screening on the 40th anniversary of its first broadcast. Brilliant and horrifying.

I am incapable of going into our local charity bookshop and not buying any. Today's haul when we just "popped in quickly" while running errands: the gorgegous graphic novel "Bloom", a book on mapping the Europe of the Celts, and a collection of Scottish folktales.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #401,366! (*Adds "Bluesky Elder" to my certifications on LinkedIn*)

One of the highlights of #CIEP2024 for me was not only meeting @amyjschneider.bsky.social and getting a signed bookplate for my copy of her awesome book, but doing so as part of the same quiz team! (Unfortunately the quiz was general knowledge with a whole round on sports, rather than style guides!)

Goodbye #ciep2024, you were wonderful! I always leave feeling so inspired, and with so many new connections! A special thank you to anyone who came to see @geckoedit.bsky.social and me talk about editing games! (Here we are looking very proud, and slightly bleary-eyed, just beforehand!)

For me, it's history. I love learning about the history of a place or a profession, looking at old pictures and seeing what questions they churn up. I also love mudlarking--these two objects are my favourite ever finds, and they both sent my imagination reeling. Any guesses what they are? 3/4

I also bought the most recent issue of 'The Whisper Queen' after reading the complete edition of the first Blacksand Tale ('The White Trees') yesterday. They really are a fantastic read - and yes, I bought the sexy alt covers. I'm only human!😏
