Hey, if you're following me in an attempt to get more followers or whatever?
Don't.
I like self-service checkout machines, because it means the staff can sit and gossip to themselves while getting paid, and not judge me for buying "Bluey" stickers.
(I put @sachajudd.com's sticker with my stack of Bluey stickers because this is all about my love. Of shiny metallic sad Bingo.)

Enjoying Royal Sussex Hospital's Urgent Treatment Centre. There is the BIGGEST seagull outside looking very threatening to anyone who comes nearby. I can only assume he's representing the resident doctors.
Fight the power, buddy!

Welp, I'm a casualty of #ffconf. That fall I took on the stairs on my way to the afterparty has wrecked my knee. Time for knee supports, pain killers, and a lot of swearing.
(And I specifically brought one of my coelacanth shirts to wear to the aquarium 😭)

Ahead of @ffconf.org – I decided to get back into random blogging. Right now it's all at katemonkey.bearblog.dev (I need to figure out what's going on with the SSL for katemonkey.com at some point).
But, hey, wanna know why I keep on using this green? Now you can.

Tonight I watched "The Wedsworth-Townsend Act" (1972), the TV movie that kicked off "Emergency!".
A review of Emergency! (1972)
I used to watch this show obsessively every weekday between the ages of 10 and 12, while I was being home schooled. Then if I ever found it on TV, I'd watch it again. I started watching 9-1-1, but it'...

Today, I watched 'All That Heaven Allows" (1955), part of the Melodrama season at the Broadway.
A review of All That Heaven Allows (1955)
Lush with technicolor glory and swelling strings, with Jane Wyman's crystal tears and Rock Hudson's barely repressed emotion, the arch of Agnes Moorhead's eyebrow and the bleak reflection of lonelines...

When I bought "House Flipper 2", I didn't think I'd reach a point in the game where I'm obsessing about kerning.
But here we are.

Today, I saw "The Running Man" (2025), which was the "mystery movie" at the Vue in town.
A review of The Running Man (2025)
I'm not sure what to think about this. I mean, as an action film, it's a lot of fun – Edgar Wright knows how to make a movie, and he does well with a great cast (I don't think I've really seen Glen Po...

Today, I watched "Predator: Badlands" (2025) at the Vue in town.
A review of Predator: Badlands (2025)
It's obvious Dan Trachtenberg has one true love in his life, and it's making fun smart-ass Predator films. Just give him a good budget, free rein with the canon, and set him loose. Throw in the larger...

Today, I watched "One Dark Night" (1982), recorded ages ago off of @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social.
A review of One Dark Night (1982)
I have to say, it's pretty impressive when your Big Bad for most of the film is just a flashing pink light behind a cracked marble tile. This is the kind of movie you want to show at, like, a 10-year-...

Today, I watched "The Haunting" (1963), a Fortune & Glory showing at the Nottingham Waterstones' Women in Horror convention.
A review of The Haunting (1963)
Still a delight to watch, all gothic horror, queer subtext, and houses that are just born bad. Add to it the delights of watching it at a Fortune & Glory showing, where you wave a pride flag when the ...

Today I watched "The House on Sorority Row" (1982), recorded ages ago off of @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social.
A review of The House on Sorority Row (1982)
A nice generic 80s' slasher, nothing too exciting, but amusing due to 1982 fashion, the mediocre rock band, and the absolutely trippy bits at the end, when the final girl is sedated and hallucinating....
