Went to Bernie Sanders' talk with Gary Younge for Manchester Literature Festival. They played Woody Guthrie as we were filing in & the whole thing made me homesick for VT. Dunno how Bernie keeps the socialist fire alive but my god, he's just as fiery as ever. The audience seemed mildly stunned

Read Susan Finlay's The Lives of Artists (JOAN) last night. Great to read a formally adventurous artist memoir that isn't po-faced about the whole endeavour. I liked how frank & funny it was.

The world's a little less wild tonight. I still remember hearing Shane's voice for the first time as a young teenager & the crazy revelation of early Pogues. They sure only made one of him. 🩶

Long Covid/ME recovery days are so crucial for me right now. If you see me out doing things and appearing in my guise as a highly functioning human, regular days of this is what makes it possible. TY audiobooks, podcasts, Insight Timer, photo editing apps, Flannel sheets, hot water bottles 🙏 🙏🙏

If, like me, you're dismayed by the pro-Israel bias in mainstream news coverage of Gaza, follow these independent Palestinian journalists on Instagram, where a lot of very courageous war reporting is happening right now📣

'She Said' is not just another breakneck investigative journalism thriller. It's so effective at conveying the vulnerability of the women on all sides of the #MeToo story, the immensity of the stakes and the sacrifice. Loved it.

When I got this new Knausgaard novel I was slightly worried by the length but now I wish it was longer. It's really great.
