Interesting that just two days after Trump issues that invasion proclamation citing “threats to public health” as justification for suspending asylum rights, he rescinds the USCIS policy requiring that those seeking admission to the U.S. be vaccinated against COVID.

This is data is pretty consistent with my experiences talking to people who support mass deportation in Arizona. They support humanitarian immigration policies, but are susceptible to narratives that position immigration as a public safety issue. The result is: “deport them all, except…”
