Happy #WorldMigratoryBirdDay to all who celebrate! I’m digging my most abundant buds of the day — the American Robin. I love seeing great big flocks cleaning out the mountain ash.

“Oh sweet Canada, Canada, Canada”

A big welcome back to these forest songsters. We’ve missed you, White-throated Sparrow.

Sharpie in the hood! 🪶

This bird has been drawn to the feeders to the great dismay all other yard birds both large and small.

I could not be happier to welcome back all the glorious blackbirds!

Grackles have a pretty bad rep — they’re big, they’re noisy, they chase off smaller species, but dang they are fun to watch.

There has been high drama at the feeders since their return! 🪶

Making the most of the last days of winter! Nothing better than fresh snow and blue skies 😍

Our homemade suet feeder is finally bringing the birds to the yard! Just a couple holes in a log with some lard jammed it 🤌 Mr. and Mrs. Hairy are regular customers. 🪶

Good day sunshine!

Morning bog walk to check up on the black-backed woodpecker. No luck there but the Hairys were drumming and a couple of Ravens were busy building a nest!

Celebrating 9 years with Sadie dog by taking a snowy walk to the bog. Perfect post storm conditions for trudging through the snow.

One pound of strawberries from the US costs to same amount as a case of mangos from Peru. #mangosfordays

A photo of Uriel and Union, two of the wolf siblings at the #HalibutonWolfCentre. Seeing the wolf pack interacting at the education center was pretty darn magical.

Lifer mammal today! My first Pine Marten very aptly perched in a red pine. A trip to #AlgonquinPark never disappoints.

Another great #IceFollies exhibit! The highlight for us was Beastie Bones by Studio Nude Beach but it’s always a blast to get out on Lake Nipissing to enjoy some #art in the depths of winter!

Mikisew Morning ❄️🌲

Photos don’t do justice to the beauty and quiet of the woods in winter. #NearNorth

One interesting fact from worldwetlandsday.org: Wetlands are our most effective land-based ecosystem for addressing the climate crisis. By absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in their soil and biomass,
wetlands help mitigate climate change.

Beauty morning in Almaguin Heights. First visit to the Moose Mountain Trail and it certainly won’t be our last! #NearNorth

My feeders have been pretty quiet this winter. The best days are when big flocks of American Goldfinches pay a visit #ProjectFeederWatch

My little red squirrel is wondering why I haven’t cleaned the snow off the platform feeder.

A little hike at Arrowhead Provincial Park, arguably the best @ontarioparks.bsky.social to visit in the winter. #nearnorth #hiking

Young dog with a sundog.

The cold weather brings the best skies.
