My Death & Dying class this week was all about ghosts. Naturally, we spent yesterday in @edinburgh-uni.bsky.social Centre for Research Collections looking at a manuscript on how to summon a demon

A lovely afternoon sitting in the grounds of Modern One @nationalgalleries.bsky.social with the little apprentice who’s enjoyed the opportunity to paint, draw & sculpt with the materials in the Family Art Basket. What a fabulous idea!

An absolute delight to watch our fabulous Literature (& Joint Hons) students from @uoe-llc.bsky.social graduate today. Bonuses: seeing fellow ‘Hildabeast’ @valmcdermid.bsky.social getting an honorary degree; wonderful conversations with families at the drinks reception; a wee gift from one proud mum

This morning, @newdramrising.bsky.social, the little apprentice, and I visited the wonderful @selcie.bsky.social ‘Nurture through Nature in Children’s Books’ at the Museum of Edinburgh. If you get chance, do take time to see it (on until 7 Sept). Congratulations, @sarahdunnigan.bsky.social

A visit to one of my favourite places today with @newdramrising.bsky.social and the little apprentice. No puffins spotted, but we saw seals, oystercatchers, and porpoises (as well as many seagulls).

Happily building up a collection of old Scottish Text Society volumes alongside the newer ones

Easter baking with the little apprentice apparently needed Chaucer as well as more traditional symbols of the season.

It was warm in the sun yesterday, but how cool is this pin! A lovely birthday/book publishing gift from @elizabethelliott.bsky.social

Many, many thanks to @lizzieswarbrick.bsky.social who guided some of my ‘medieval death students’ from @uoe-llc.bsky.social round Rosslyn Chapel this afternoon. The sun shone and we read some Dunbar too! A fantastic way to finish the course!

And with thanks to @riacheyne.bsky.social for reminding me about including alt text. It could be an April Fool but, apparently, it’s publication day for this wee book. Thanks to all at @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social for bringing it into the world!

The little apprentice wanted to make me a birthday cake. She got bored. I had to finish it after the licking the bowl stage. This morning she asked if she could eat the cake.

Possibly the fanciest conference name tag I’ve ever had. And a fancy location too! Enjoying a super first day at the Scotland’s Manuscripts Symposium organised by @bryonycoombs.bsky.social and others

Spent Saturday baking for the little apprentice’s school Christmas fair, then Sunday serving refreshments. I need a weekend to recover.

Lovely walk this afternoon; from Peebles past Neidpath Castle. Of course, it followed the obligatory stop at Cocoa Black for the little apprentice’s hot chocolate fix
