One winter, the local wild turkeys visited my bird feeder, so I took this picture. None of them appeared on my Thanksgiving table - domestic turkeys get that fate. Happy Holiday! #HappyThanksgiving #birdwatching

Some history isn't very old: Nov 2nd marked the 25-year anniversary of the first crew of astronauts reaching the ISS. Since then, not a day has gone by without a human in space. What's next? That's a question science fiction loves to answer, but real-life is coming #nasa #history #space

Equinox is upon us on Monday, Sep 22, 2025, at 12:19 PM Mountain Time (USA) End of astronomical summer in the northern hemisphere:

The best of the summer gone,
and the new fall not yet born.
The odd uneven time.

Arrival was very cool... I may be an old fooff, but a tie between old B&W Day the Earth Stood Still & Forbidden Planet. They took themselves seriously in engaging ways without gruesome horror, so I could concentrate on the stories (despite the damsel-in-distress posters) #sciencefiction

The spousal unit & I visited Tucson's Desert Museum &Zoo for an open-till-10-pm night, because it gets down to 90 after sunset - even into the 80s! Here I am on right with one of the docents on left. Special activities going on, so they dressed up a bit. Are we a pair of 70s ladies or what? #70s

Now that I've completed my engineering career, I return to my youth with scifi. My realistic scifi series about the first settlement on Mars was so much fun, I'm starting over with a different first settlement on Mars. Until that's complete, travel to Mars with books2read.com/GloryonMars

"The peplum is a fantasy genre [often Italian film] celebrating musclebound masculinity in heroic action in distant prehistorical, pre-industrialized past, &often in unidentifiable countries." And I thought it was a flounce at the hips 😄

Walmart on-line carries some of my paperback books. I almost feel famous 😊 Try Lunar Base: a junior pilot, brash & reckless. Being cantankerous may get her killed. Or worse, fired www.walmart.com/ip/Winnie-Br... #sciencefiction #BookSky

I just saw this from American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. “The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, by the hand of divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” #humanrights #American

Graduates. Please don't release helium balloons. I pick up their sad deflated remnants on hiking trails & tangled in brush. Animals may eat the colorful shreds & get sick. That's not what you intend. Celebrate. You deserve a party. Then dispose of balloons properly. Congratulations! 👨‍🎓 #graduation

Acerbic, as always. Maybe a fool, maybe someone desperate or hurting [?] Didn't Twain also say that a lie can travel around the world while the truth is putting its boots on? Defend yourself. Don't wait for a traditional explainer to save you #truth #lying #classic #BookSky
