With the weird late rain last month, a lot of our spring wildflowers are making an appearance. It's a really good time to wander around outside and remember what plants live on my property.

My main work task today is reading and understanding so I can rewrite some code to be less cumbersome. Unfortunately, my brain has decided that it can neither read nor understand today.

I had given up on the saffron crocus but it looks like I just wasn't patient enough!
Also, it looks like my inline drip tubing is starting to clog up and fail on like 75% of the emitters. Looks like I'll need to do a lot of work on that this winter.

Figured out why half my seeds aren't coming up. The freaking ants are digging them up and carrying them away.

I arranged for 5yds of garden soil to be delivered today and Mr. Garden soil called me to reschedule just now at 7:15 am. Sir, I know landscaping companies are up with the lark but calling before 9 or even 8 is nuts.

Yesterday, I made first batch of champurrado of the year. This morning, it boiled over reheating in the microwave for the first time this year. Here's to remembering how long to microwave things.

Seasonal depression in the desert is wild. While outside with the dog, I looked towards the mountains and thought how beautiful it was and how much I like living in the desert. During the summer it was all harshness and discomfort.

Just bought 4 liters of olive oil. I'm going back to California olive ranch bag in box since I can't find a good California option in a big tin. I'd prefer to avoid the plastic but what can you do?

Divided and moved the artichokes. Hopefully they don't mind too badly. It wasn't the best prepared bed but everybody got a handful of worm castings, some nutri rich fertilizer and then a sip of very dilute fish emulsion.

The dang heavy duty ranch hose I bought in May of '24 is already starting to fail where the hose meets the connector. Uggggggggh.
