Good for her! 😂

I literally just recoiled in horror. Did she kill him?

Your mom deserves a medal for not stabbing them all!

Measuring what’s easy to measure instead of what matters.

I feel your pain! I live in an old house with a small kitchen, but I do have *slightly* more space than that!!

I’ve heard good things! White Lily is low protein, so I think it’s doing the same thing.

Go for it! I recently found advice to start rolling from the middle of the crust, roll up once, then all the way down, then flip and rotate a quarter turn. Repeat, flouring the surface each time until you’ve got the right size. My crusts have come out much closer to round ever since!

I’ve recently started doing a 3:2 ratio of King Arthur to White Lily AP, and it rules. KA gives good structure, and the WL keeps it super flaky.

Use just enough water to bring the dough together. It’s ok if it’s a little wet, you’ll add more flour during rolling. Pat into a disc and wrap tightly. Let rest at least 20 minutes. Turn out to well floured surface. Sprinkle flour on dough and rolling pin. Flour dough each time you flip it.

Oh sure! For one crust:
1 1/4 c AP flour
3/4 tsp kosher salt
1 stick cold unsalted butter cut into chunks
~ 3oz very cold water
Mix dry ingredients, then cut in butter until it resembles coarse meal. Make a well and add the water a little at a time, mixing in gently with a fork. (1/2)

I have my go-to crust recipe that I use for all pies and quiches. Sturdy enough to hold the filling but still beautifully flaky. I go with a classic all butter crust.

I wasn’t nearly tipsy enough for that movie.

😂😂😂😂

Mixed up my crust this afternoon to roll out and bake Wednesday. It will hold perfect sweet potato pie.

THE ONLY ONE!!!

Ah thank you for the reminder!! I heard great things but hadn’t gotten to it before it got buried in my watchlist! Bumping it back up.

If you’re already into mysteries, you’ve probably seen all of these, but this is what I sent her. With my commentary of course 😂

A friend just got Acorn and I sent her an EPIC list for weekend binging. But, yes, it absolutely drove home that we are currently in a cozy desert!! I watched some Foyle’s War this morning to soothe myself.

Oh yes. It really is.

I love the real thing too!! But when life is too much - as it’s been the past many years- Snacksgiving is a joy.
November 23, 2025 at 11:36 PM
I love it!!! We watch Die Hard whenever we can because it is perfect, but we also make sure to watch it on Snacksgiving. I love your skeleton! At our old house, we had a bright orange resin moose head on the wall that we decorated seasonally. Really need to find a spot for him here!!

I feel I need to update this with the fact that I just ordered new matching PJs for us for this year. Because it’s fun to lean into it.

And to explicitly tie it to the original question: it’s such a relief not to travel or to deal with navigating some tense family relationships. It’s relaxing and lovely but still a special day.
November 23, 2025 at 7:06 PM
It is as wonderful as it sounds! I’ve since converted many others to the joys of Snacksgiving (and also Snacksmas). I do make nods to traditional foods, e.g., I work traditional stuffing flavors into sausage biscuits for breakfast.

Whatever strikes us in the moment. I can make everything ahead of time over a few days, none of it is super complex. We do end the day with sweet potato pie because I need it.
