Human trafficking, migration, asylum, environment and turtles | Consultant on developing responses to Human Trafficking and integrating Protection/Safeguarding measures into humanitarian responses | I'm usually found in warmer Mediterranean climates
I just attended a really interesting conference on intersectionality, and its application across public policy. Thanks to the University of Malta for the invitation.

One of my favourite phrases at conferences remains ... 'In the interest of time'. I cringe each time someone else uses it, but have used it myself so many times 😂

At the end of last year I left my role as Head of Anti-Trafficking at the British Red Cross, in order to focus on consultancy work. It's really difficult to summarise 10+ yrs of being part of an organisation & movement I feel so passionately about, & being in a role I feel privileged to have held.

A great first day on a new consultancy contract... lots of very exciting trafficking-response things in the works over the next few months....

I'm feeling very privileged that I get to do what I do.

We still have so far to go to properly acknowledge the way asylum and trafficking can overlap, and the way undocumented entry can be an indicator of trafficking (and therefore it shouldn't be used to exclude people from trafficking support)
“The Government should bring back protections for modern slavery survivors [...] to align them with international law.”

How many of these studies do we need?

A study published in Social Sciences by CUNY SPH suggests that laws criminalizing sex work do not prevent human trafficking and instead leave sex workers vulnerable to coercion and unsafe conditions. adigaskell.org/2025/01/24/c...

I haven't opened a new social media account in ages... it's a wierd feeling setting this all up and looking for my clan on here, I keep typing in names as they randomly pop in my head to see if they're here yet 😄

Last week marked the end of a 2 year journey, working with brilliant international and Maltese colleagues to develop Malta's first Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking, and its Action Plan. (1/5)
