My peeve is that too many pundits bought the simplistic techbro line of "affordable", "innovative" and *sigh* "asymmetric" solutions making "legacy" hardware obsolete. Instead of the boring but accurate assessment that warfare is a toolbox and they are all just elements of the whole.

If Macron is willing to open new debates, might not be a bad time for a London-Paris chat about deepening nuclear enterprise cooperation (beyond existing UK-France cooperation) to enable greater British independence. Nothing can happen overnight, but prudent to plan for the long haul.
