Rep. Raskin talks about the original scandal in the Epstein case: a non-prosecution agreement offered to Epstein by Alex Acosta in 2008. At that time Acosta served as the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. In 2017, Trump nominated Acosta for Secretary of Labor.

Norm Eisen and Luke Russert discuss the corruption of the administration where all top level DOJ officials are Trump’s personal lawyers who see covering up the Epstein scandal as their duty to the president.

“We just like that he makes the right people mad. He hates the people we hate.” — Tom Nichols describes a significant portion of Trump voters who like Trump for his vengefulness, who see in Trump’s anger a reflection of their own anger.

Below are recent comments by Justice Coney Barrett on Obergefell v. Hodges. According to Professor Leah Litman, they give a glimmer of hope that SCOTUS would not overturn the 2015 same-sex marriage ruling. 🏳️‍🌈

Today the Supreme Court is meeting to review a challenge to same-sex marriage. If the Court decides to take the case, it will likely overturn Obergefell.

For people in same-sex marriages, it is heart stopping. 🏳️‍🌈

Judge Luttig: “His aim is clear. It’s to delegitimize the federal courts in the eyes of the American people, and to intimidate the federal courts to rule in his favor.”

No one understands the depth of the danger that America faces better than Judge Luttig.

How do we govern ourselves as a country if the president believes that he is not only above the law, but he is the law?

Norm Eisen introduces a note of optimism: “How to do it? Meet his autocracy. Flood the zone with rule of law shock and awe.”

Tom Nichols explains that according to the White House logic, the president can designate anyone to be a terrorist. If the president designates an organization terrorist, he can use military force. That organization can be a political party.

Judge Luttig: “There is no question that as of today Donald Trump has all the power he would ever need to run for a third term and be seated as the next president whether or not he actually won that election.”

Tom Nichols about White House Press briefings: “Every one of these press conferences becomes a Saturday Night Live cold open. Except that you couldn’t write something like this. The writers at Saturday Night Live would throw that one out — it’s just too over the top.”
