the rest of the learned world understands that digital goods aren't the same as real life products.

So even though the sentiment is well-intentioned, its making a mountain out of a molehill and its aiming to complicate the production of said digital goods for virtually zero benefit.

Because "things sold as a product being taken away from you" isn't happening. It's like 1 or 2 games at best, but SKG is framing it as the foundation of their initiative and acting like its a rampant issue that needs to be solved. It's not.

Yeah, if you truly loved the game so much, wouldn’t you have supported it and it would have stayed alive?

You just want the ability to host your own private servers? For free? So the truth is you just want the ability to legally pirate the game, huh? This has nothing to do with love or preservation

Because the truth is that “this situation” isn’t a rampant problem. There’s only one, if not a few games at most, that did that, but now everyone wants to put more rules on all devs in the name of “consumer rights” instead of actually solving the problem correctly.

Can you give examples of games that were shut down just because the devs felt like it and not because of valid reasons like lack of money to keep it going? Is it in the single digits?
