If men want to rape us they do not need to “pretend” to be women to get into our toilets or our changing rooms. They can just…rape us, in those spaces or other public spaces or in our workplaces or our homes, and they can be statistically pretty certain that they will never face punishment for this.

I forgot to include a screenshot of the cat statue being flooded, like the human statue, both of them in the same reaching-up-for-something pose. Showing them both like this makes the parallel pretty inescapable imo.

So my guess is the movie is showing us how people had gotten stuck in their dead world, surrounding themselves with only their own things, thinking they were independent from the rest of the world... in exactly the same way the cat was.

But whereas the cat was able to adapt, and move on...

"go with the flow" and abandon it.

So obviously the cat made the right choice and survived, and discovered that life was bigger than its old solitary world.

But later in the movie, we get a glimpse of what might have happened to people in this world. Compare these two screenshots:

Now the figures are of course all "petrified" and dead, being statues. There is no life there, which is appropriate for a world inhabited only by the cat.

But that "deadness" and "stuckness" was not sustainable, and the cat had to choose between staying in its dead world and die with it, or...

live in the house, creating all those statues of their cat.

But if we understand the house as the cat's world (see the end of my last post), those figures everywhere symbolize how everything in the cat's life revolved around itself, and It didn't think it needed anything outside of that.
