These probes let us evoke activity in neurons near the emitter sites, enabling spatial and temporal control across different depths of the mouse cortex.
Some snippets of results: we successfully triggered activity in excitatory neurons expressing the red-shifted opsin ChRmine with both long and short light pulses. We show that the probes can be used for precise activation, identification, and manipulation of neuronal populations!
