There are no checks and balances left. How many people might still be alive if China hadn’t chilled free speech, erased all channels for political dissent and gutted Hong Kong’s civil society?

Sheffield Hallam University appeased China Govt to protect its income from Chinese student enrollment.

It shut down research into forced labour and human rights abuses, intimidated academics, suppressed academic papers.

Outrageous. Universities functioning as corporations. Must be investigated.

Good to see collapse of UK China spy trial dominating the news, as it becomes increasingly clear UKLabGvt - which has been so utterly weak on China from the start - had a sinister hand in all of this. Reflects badly on previous Tory Gvt too, which is no surprise either.

I have absolutely no doubt UKGvt was involved in collapse of China spy trial. There is a pattern here, of Starmer & co being so desperate to secure trade deal they will ignore security and human rights concerns. Pathetic.

Saying Trump’s reaction is not how s/o mourns a friend, it’s how a 4 y.o mourns a goldfish = spot on.
