There’s “fighting the last war,” and there’s fighting a war from 100 years ago…

I too hate it… yet I’m not sure I love the FO giving Rothrock a really big (say, $800k+) a contract at a crowded position.

I’m holding out hope that he’ll be back in the end…

I’m guessing that the northern teams will have more home games in the summer and the hotter climate teams will have more home games in the winter, when you don’t really want to play in, say, Toronto.

I just talked to a coworker in another state. Her kids are off school today for Election Day (because they use the schools as polling places).

We have it so good here in Washington.

If they can muster the energy they had in the first 45, then yeah. (We’re pretending first half stoppage didn’t happen.) They were pretty motivated to avoid PKs and it showed.

I also love our bench - Paul, Georgie, etc - running against tired second half legs if needed.

Let’s hope you’re right

💯

The boys need to win convincingly in regulation.

This game will be a slog. Minnesota will clog things up. I’m feeling very “meh” about it all. I expect Seattle to win tonight, but I guess I won’t be heartbroken if they don’t. (Beating Messi already makes it a successful season imo.)

Is the incentive a pile of 100 used Messi jerseys

Also shout-out to the one kid who started his speech with “I know we’ve had our disagreements on the robotics team, but…” (and then went on to say plenty of nice things about the other kid). Like, I want the backstory of robotics team drama.

And let me tell you, these kids nailed it. They gave thoughtful, heartfelt, and sometimes emotional speeches.

And it further cemented in my mind that cross country is the most wholesome sport in HS. Super supportive, focused on improvement, inclusive. Just lots to like there.

I’ve watched through S3, and I think your initial take holds up
