ND is considering personhood legislation, an extreme anti-abortion bill that would also impact IVF & miscarriage management. The hearing is Wed am. ND health care providers, ND families & I will testify against the bill, urging the committee to vote no and keep politicians out of doctors' offices.

A resolution for ND to "recognize the Kingship of Jesus Christ" and a resolution urging the US Supreme Court to end marriage equality... These are the priorities of the far-right Republicans in the ND Legislature. 🙄 Good grief.

The ND Legislature is considering several bills regarding cell phone use in K12 classrooms. Yesterday, the ND House approved a bill requiring schools to develop a cell phone policy - so there is local control versus a one-size-fits-all approach.

The Fargo Theatre is a treasure in our community! We're proud to have this historic cultural center in the heart of downtown Fargo + District 44. My bill to provide a matching grant to the theater will help it continue to be a treasure for years to come.

Gov. Armstrong's budget addresses issues that the Dem-NPL caucus has long worked to solve: behavioral health, affordable housing & property tax relief. We also need to invest more in state employee raises + K12 funding so ND can stay a leader in delivering public services & public education!

Good news: HB 1150 - which would have reinstated ND's "blue laws" - went down in flames today. That means current law will stand and ND businesses can continue to make their own decisions on whether to be open on Sunday mornings or not. Lawmakers noted the many inconsistencies in the bill.

The #1 issue in the ND Legislature is property tax. Yesterday, the House tax committee a bill that includes property tax relief & reform. People representing local government entities like cities, counties and schools expressed concerned about the idea of caps.

The House & Senate Appropriations Committees participated in a re-entry simulation, learning a bit about the barriers & frustrations that those leaving incarceration face. This exercise will help lawmakers see the value of upcoming proposals to improve our reentry outcomes!

I've known Nina her entire life & I'm proud of her advocacy! A cap would be life-saving for people w/ Type 1 diabetes who need insulin to survive.

Nina said there's uncertainty living with T1D. “If this bill doesn’t pass, I might not be here in the future."

Unnecessary & unconstitutional: HB 1145 would require ND's K12 schools AND higher ed institutions to display the Ten Commandments. The bill specifies the exact wording and size to be used. If it passes, it will undoubtedly lead to litigation, wasting taxpayer dollars.

Gov. Kelly Armstrong said ND needs an immediate solution to address overcrowding in state prisons & county jails, and he called for a new approach to corrections - including more deflection & diversion - so we're not using jails as treatment centers. 👏👏👏
