From a law enforcement and use-of-force perspective, even suggesting that someone should “learn their lesson” in the context of a violent incident is inappropriate and professionally indefensible.

Reports and videos show ICE agents asking American citizens whether they’ve “learned their lesson over the last few days” are deeply troubling. Language like this implies intent and raises serious questions about premeditation and mindset on the scene.

Leaving the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension out of the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's tragic death is wrong. They worked seamlessly with the FBI on Hortman & Annunciation cases—shutting them out now undermines trust and objectivity.

This administration wants silence, but that isn’t happening. The ICE agent’s name and photo are now widely known, and accountability is being demanded. Justice must be served and he must stand trial!!!

If an officer acts contrary to training, puts himself in harm’s way, and then escalates force because of that self-created risk, investigators and courts view that as increased responsibility, not a valid excuse.

In law-enforcement terms, that shows a failure to apply training and a pattern of negligent behavior, not a one-time mistake.

Finally, in use-of-force evaluations, officers generally cannot create their own danger and then rely on that danger to justify deadly force.
