Isn’t it wild? Sometimes I remember this was also the decadence of the 1920’s but there was no social media to help shape the public memory around it.

Oh I definitely agree with that. That is a fundamental problem with the party. I just think when we strip that out, that's what's left. As frustrated as I am with the careerism and the blocking out of new people with power - I don't think they will be able to hold onto that much longer.

I think part of the issue is that the tradeoffs each would have to make impact the other so drastically. So there is real negotiation there. But I think it's important negotiation we are just not doing. It is all ceiling all the time to fight segregation. And it's just not gonna get the job done.

The other side genuinely believes the ceiling is not a worry, as long as you can standardize the floor. Make it so every person has the guarantee of a certain base. I think those are political belief differences that can't be easily sewn together.

I think there is a genuine difference of belief within that party. I think one part thinks the biggest challenge is removing the ceiling of barriers to "success". They believe firmly that the role of government is removing those barriers to have more wealth in the country.

Here’s a story for every national news outlet:

In N.C., churchgoers are literally running into the woods as federal agents descend on the property.

“Inside the church, women and children sobbed as they wondered whether their loved ones had been taken.”

There is no universe where I’ll ever consider these people as political allies. I will literally compromise on every ideological issue to prevent them from gaining power.

Fuck them.

All the coins in my pockets to have politicians off of Twitter or at the very least not equate Twitter with real life.

The scuttling of the care agenda to please Joe Manchin, getting rid of the public option because of Joe Lieberman, not overturning the filibuster because of Sinema, Fetterman, and Manchin. All of that would be actual power.
