The Nobel Prize in chemistry this year was really great. The possibilities of how to use the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) appear endless and not least to address some of our most pressing problems. Exciting!

Anything that helps the kids feel joy and get real hope for the future gets my vote.
Forget the far right. The kids want a 'United States of Europe.'

On social media, the upcoming generation is expressing more European solidarity than the continent has seen in decades.

As mentioned, the dominant values of these times are trash. Members of the Council of Europe now wish to incorporate this trash into the ECHR and make human rights only applicable to some humans, qualified by certain circumstances.

It took 80 years to forget and become indifferent again.

This decision came after the NATO exercise in Romania, when it took ten days (!) to move military resources from France to Romania. It is as if the US wants a strike on EU to make it wake up and get real on supporting Ukraine.
The US draws down troops on NATO's eastern flank as Europe frets about a security vacuum
The U.S. confirms it will reduce its troop presence on NATO’s borders with Ukraine. This move has raised concerns among allies about a potential security gap as Russia becomes more confrontational.

And end up with slow decision-making, another EU talkshow? More consensus requirements becoming veto power, when we know some EU nations are crawling on the floor for Russia? Distinguish clearly between military strategic and operational capacity, and joint political defence capacity. No veto.
Can we revive the idea of a European Security Council, 1st presented by President Macron and former Chancellor Merkel in 2017-2019? For:

-European response in the case of military aggression
-European Defence Union
-🇺🇦mil capabilities integration
-defragmentation of EU defence industry

Very sobering. There is no doubt exuberance regarding investments in AI, but is it yet irrational? Look at asset valuations of AI start-ups. They are certainly NOT rational. Still, loan financing based on those valuations is piling up. The consequences of that when exuberant irrationality vanishes?

The Danish PET report is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be a new and strong European defence alliance (hopefully not within the EU). But to be strong, there cannot be abusive or half-hearted relationships within it.

Trillions are poured into weapons. Laws will not contain these new weapons. International law has lost its respect and authority. National constraints seem futile in both authoritarian and democratic nations. The eclipse?

No doubt, energy supply in Europe needs a rethink to make it dependable, sustainable and less vulnerable in war. But should Europe partner with the US for this? A country that for a second time elected a President who shares none of our values, concerns and respect. That is a volatile partner.
