Cat lady in MN. Books, board games, and choral music
Ugh, why do I still care about this guy? He's an asshole, a coward, was a willing partner in an emotional affair, and he's going to chuck over his close friend of over a decade because his controlling, still married girlfriend of nine months says so. Fuck, idk who's the bigger idiot: him or me.

I should move and start doing useful stuff. But I am morally and legally unable to.

If you're planning on joining the protests tomorrow, bundle up, Midwestern friends! For Minneapolis, the temp is forecasted to be -5 at noon.

Anyone placing any bets on how long it will take before prison labor is used to replace undocumented migrant workers? If I were more cynical, I'd invest in for-profit prison companies

I sneezed, and my void tyrant proceeded to squeak at me angrily. Apparently I'm supposed to sneeze without moving my abdomen

Yes, big important news and headlines. But can someone explain why in the nine hells I woke up with Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" stuck in my head?

From August, but still relevant. Short answer: because those with privilege are pissed about losing it and scared that they will have to compete with those who are more qualified than they are

If you were planning a midwinter choral concert, what would you program?

I'd start with Lament For Pasiphae and have Barber's Twelfth Night as the midpoint

Nothing like ending the week with a two-hour rehearsal where we worked hard with very little break time. So tired, but the good kind of tired

Shit like this is why the women's leadership program I was a part of got axed by the college that housed it. Still have not forgiven that branch of the Minnesota State University system.

Benefit of leaving the cat carrier out: my resident void tyrant is comfortable in it. Of course, he still gets suspicious when I bribe him in there for trips to the V-E-T

The most savage reactions I've seen in response to the shooting of the United Healthcare CEO come straight from the nursing subreddit, where people who are clearly used to dealing with this insurer assess the incident:

I was thinking about the short story "The Lady or the Tiger". While I could be reasoned into the lady (and hopefully would be), that initial gut choice is the tiger.

So...anyone else apparently need to override some of their more bloodthirsty instincts in order to make good moral decisions? 🫤
