If you control for the general shift towards illiberal immigration policies driven by wider trends including GFC and reaction to EU accession etc and global insecurity, easier transport… then I think this could have been ..Keir this week? Or probably Kemi

The idea New Labour was a ‘liberal’ movement is quite widespread so this is an understandable error … but this was a government that pursued asylum detention centres; 90’day detention; ASBOs and ID cards. And record police numbers. Neighbourhood policing. A total false memory.

Support from Belle and Sebastian for Bridget Phillipson in the deputy leadership election.

Italia 90 redefined English football. It kick started the recovery in our love affair with the game that has launched the Premier League into global hegemony.

My key takeaway?

‘Can you cut my hair to look like Chris Waddle please?’

In my view the person offering the training is entirely wrong and this young person is correct. The problem with answering the phone and not saying hello is **that you have answered the phone**

Listening to @jonawils.bsky.social ‘it was what it was episode about Goodison and genuinely quite emotional. Memories of queuing for hours for not getting in to Wimbledon 3-2 game. Also caused me to watch Rooney’s Arsenal goal again. Sad seeing him congratulated by Franny Jeffers at the end (photo)

Really gutted to miss the Easter egg hunt at Francis Ford Coppola’s winery. I’m imagining it as a a search through dense jungle culminating in finding Marlon Brando cradling a Dairy Milk Buttons egg in the gloom.

I have a new hobby. Finding and drinking wines made by surprising celebrities. They have to actually make the wine - it can’t be a Kylie style name on label job. Thus far I have ticked off Golfer Ernie Els, and Twin Peaks’ Kyle Maclachlan.

Last night was a highlight with Georgi ‘Kinky’ Kinkladze’

Turns out when my mum moved out of our old house in the early months of the year 2000 she kept all my posters from my bedroom and forgot to tell me for **25 years**… no use for them now but a hoot sorting through them.

Amazing insight on Paul Gascoigne from Tommy Docherty at the start of 1990 ‘Still needs to play as well as he talks about his game. 5 out of 10. A miss’
