walks dog, watches birds, grows native plants; former senior acquiring editor of academic and trade books for university presses; now, freelancing (developmental editor & copy editor) as I take care of my elderly mum and navigate end-of-life caregiving.
One of my favourite poets has a new collection out. Pick up a copy of Randy Lundy’s “Something for the Dark.” It’s so good; he’s one of the best.

Toba and I love saskatoon season. She eats as many as I do. #rescuedog #straysurvivalinstincts

Never forget: The earth is bountiful. Treat it well. Be in reciprocal relations with it. Don’t take too much. Give back 💚

Thankful we keep listening to business/fossilfuel companies, not scientists & environmentalists; grateful for being unable to go out on a summer day b/c can’t breathe the air. What a future for the children and non-humans who didn’t make these choices & didn’t need all this crap to live a good life.

There’s lots of guilt in taking a night off from caring for mum but I wore one of her blouses and boogied late and had such fun and she’d want that. Grateful for family who made a fun night possible & all the single ladies on the floor who made an old girl feel young & hip

I’ve made a lot of poor choices in my life. Leaving Texas to return to my homelands, family and lifelong friends in Saskatchewan was apparently not one of them. Praying for all the good people and non-humans in the US. What a nightmare. Work to do here too though, lots of it. Our shared world #renkl

It was my 88-year father who may or may not pruned too harshly the apple tree 😵🤣😅🥹

Merry Christmas to all of you from my mum (our family’s Christmas miracle this year!) and me. ☃️ Take care of those you love and help others when you can. And be brave ☃️🎄🤍

Thanks to the slow-motion video option on this phone, which I’ve never thought to use before, I learned today that Toba has a propeller for a tail.

How beautiful was today in rural Saskatchewan? I hope you all found a way to give what you could to help make this world better. Every bit counts and you don’t need more stuff. You really don’t. But we need more community and more care which then expands to create even more goodness. Do it! ❤️🤍💛💚

More goodness: Toasted 68 years of marriage with these two love birds with the first rum & eggnog of the season ☃️🎄❣️. They have weathered pretty much every type of storm, including a terrible one on the honeymoon in 1956 on the Lumsden valley hill. To love, hard work, luck & commitment 🤍. #vows

We don’t always go to the woods. We also go here. Great coffee, pies, artwork by regional artists, and, of course, the locals. 💛

Loving the good vibes and energy of BlueSky! What a relief! My feed is full of creative, interesting, positive people & energy. What a breath of fresh air. And this is me, happy and relieved that a medical scare was just that and my results are okay! Big love to nurses and doctors and caregivers 🙏🏼💛
