After watching a webinar on AI tools for librarians, I've asked Copilot to write promotion documentation outlines with supporting quotes from colleagues based on criteria in my union contract. It is a starting point, but it's not super great, and completely failed in finding supporting quotes.

I heard one of these this morning in the UDistrict.
Update: Seattle Dept. of Transportation not happy with the tampering: "The audio recordings at crosswalks play a critical role for people who are blind or have limited vision," the agency said. "We are concerned that someone would disregard the safety of people to make a political statement."

Federal and state budget cuts are threatening higher ed, research, and healthcare. And @uofwa.bsky.social ? They’re just sitting on $1.5 billion in reserves instead of protecting jobs and resources.

The single greatest thing that can protect, preserve, & defend our nation is a strong federal educational system. The proof can be seen by the party in power's attempt to dismantle it. Their goal is not to protect our nation, but to preserve protect & defend white patriarchal christian nationalism.

This is truly, utterly despicable evil.
A Missouri Representative has filed a bill to track pregnancies in the state.

HB 807 will: "Maintain a central registry of each expectant mother who is at risk for seeking an abortion of her unborn child and make the same available to a prospective adoptive parent who has completed screenings."

#Seattle Children's Hospital made the call to cancel gender-affirming surgery to avoid potential loss of federal funds. This is NOT only harming red states kids. Expect reproductive services to follow the same path, if this stands. #activism

So, while I may be living through a coup, the good news is my CT Scan and tumor DNA tests came back clear! I've officially entered the NED (no evidence of disease) portion of my cancer experience, and with any luck, this portion will be permanent.

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.

We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

Had a meeting on my calendar today but it was yesterday; I was supposed to help with a presentation. Discouraged at not being able to keep up with things, & saying no to new interesting projects since I'm already struggling. After 5 years time management is getting harder not easier ☹️
