Weirder than that, but maybe not in the ways you think.
Yay for protesters against gerrymandering

I had a handed-down TRS-80 with a tape drive.

One day later we have enough data to see it's a notable drop and not another of the usual ups-and-downs.

When you see a chart with a giant drop that's trying to make you panic about the stock market, please remember that they chose a date range to maximize visual impact.

Charts for the past month and the past year give useful context.

Sewing Tip!

Overlock stitches are designed to go over the edge of the fabric to prevent fraying. They use an overlock foot which has a metal piece for the top thread to go over to add space to the stitch so it doesn't pucker or bunch the fabric.

Would you summarize? I am balking at what I have to agree to in order to read the article

Sewing tip!

The short seams at the tops of your shoulders do a lot of work. It's good to reinforce them when you're working with stretchy fabrics.

Did he just?

Yes he just

Sewing tip!

Sheer and stretchy fabrics are more likely to have nesting problems.

Using tear-away, wash-away embroidery stabilizer under the beginning of each seam reduces this risk.

If you don't have any, toilet paper works.

Use a cutting board to comfortably do finicky pinning on your lap

There's probably a name for combining a ruffle edge with a French seam to encase the raw edges

Can I repost something multiple times so it shows on my thing (wall? timeline? outgoing feed?) more than once?

Among government agencies, DOE means nuclear stuff because it's the Department Of Energy.

(Department of Education gets a different acronym)

Now that I'm following more BlueSky accounts than I can comfortably keep up with in a day, it's time to refine my lists so I can select what to keep up with and what to dip in to occasionally.

Sewing tip!

Cultivate a sense of how many layers of fabric there are and how many layers of fabric there should be.

For prints I love Spoonflower. Their fabric quality is top notch.

For solid color basics I have started making a spreadsheet against the day I have sewn down my stash enough to buy fabric again.

Sewing tip! The feed dogs are synchronized to move precisely with the needle and the bobbin.

Letting them do their work means managing the fabric that's far from the presser foot so it doesn't drag or pull the part of the fabric the feed dogs are working on.
