In 1998, Thompson's actions & those of his crew were publicly recognised by the US Army as having "set the standard for all soldiers to follow".

It’s also important to note that “white” as a category of people did not exist before the 17th century, and came into existence as a social construct largely as a way to justify why some people could be enslaved for life while others couldn’t.

When a Secretary of Defense mishandles classified material or issues unlawful orders, accountability isn't optional.

If leaders shrug it off, small failures become dangerous ones and those in uniform pay the price. We must stand for responsible and competent civilian leadership at the Pentagon.
