I did go for a hike. It was a little too early and far too dark to be safe in the mountains so I turned around about halfway through what I might have done. Spidey sense was tingling. By the time I got back down to the parking, groups in festive hats and holiday lights were gathering.

Got an email about a USWNT playing in Santa Barbara and they describe it as a “historic moment for the Central Coast.” Since when is Santa Barbara Central Coast? I know California geographic designations are weird and vague but come on. Central starts at like SLO. Maybe Pismo Beach.

Holiday party at work tomorrow and I wanted to wear a festive hat that’s very warm. But it’s prob not happening now. It’s a holiday “crawl” across our large unit (heh large unit). My team’s contribution (mocktails!) will be outdoors in the hottest part of the day.

Today was chaos at work and also in real life. Next week stands to be same. But I did firm up some spring travel plans. Ish. And then I sort of surprise went to go see my bff’s kid’s winter concert. Which wasn’t bad. It’s a performing arts high school so the kids are kinda great.

It’s going to be 86° during our (daytime, outdoor) work holiday party next week. My team is doing mocktails. We’d discussed doing hot drinks too (cider, cocoa, etc) since it’s been kinda cool lately. But I think we’re probably not going to bother.

I went for a walk. In thermals and a parka. It wasn’t really necessary. I took off my hat and unzipped my coat by the end. Saw a lovely sunrise. Tho it was hard to get a good view. Here it is from across the local elementary playground.

There are some foods I just don’t like, but I can see why someone maybe might. There are only a few that are wholly offensive to my reason and I can’t understand why online would eat them. Like I’ll literally stop watching a cooking video if they’re in it. Mushrooms (any). Walnuts. Water chestnuts.
