It's okay to peel back the veneer and put to rest many misconceptions that are spread as ultimate truths.

Thoughts of Japan being magical only serve to ignore the sleepless nights and endless arguments that end up shaping the buildings, foods, and products that so many people are entranced by.

Japan isn't some magical country where everything is perfect and pristine, allowing you to ignore your impact on the surroundings.

Joke cards like this also serve to help people understand that Japan is a nation put together by normal people who have flaws, all sorts of skills, and differing views.

It's also a lot of fun to capture them in Polaroids. I have stacks of them lying around. That was actually one of the original instigations for creating the cards, but I didn't have any plans for what to do in the 2010s.

This is one of the "Twenty-Two Shrines" which were cataloged during the Heian Period as some of the most important shrines in Japan.

It's quite fun to get to this temple, as there's a cable car that goes through large trees up the mountain, or you can hike your way up if you have enough stamina.

On some days, the sky forms a glorious set of colors which confound the senses, and the wide-open area serves to allow you to take it all in.

Also, you'll quite likely see turtles and ducks, and sometimes a heron or two, and that's pretty snazzy.

The action on this card says the card holder can eat one piece of street food - which the #Namba and Dotonbori area is known for - for each positive memory recollected.

While the cards don't have an actual game to play, they're designed to look like they do. The Castle Wall cards tell players to use four in order to build a castle, for example.

There's only enough funding in the base level to cover design & manufacturing in one language, but a stretch goal will be to have the set in Japanese & English. More stretch goals are to have ~200 cards.

This campaign is not a simple pre-order, as the cards won't be made if it's is unsuccessful.

In case you haven't seen these before, Kangaku 47 is a set of trading cards featuring locations in all 47 prefectures of Japan. The base fundraising goal will fund the completion of the project (traveling and taking the remaining photos) and manufacturing.

More funding = more cards
