I haven't read Wuthering Heights/enjoyed the trailer's aesthetics but really enjoyed reading this old Andrea Dworkin essay about the book! Very intense but so many of her points are so relevant today

Elsewhere in pop culture, the success of romantasy writers and the religious-like following they command is quite the hot topic: in Pluribus, the protagonist is a misanthropic romantasy author who hates her own work; in last week’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, Jemima Kirke took a spin as a romantasy author who regards herself as a feminist hero in a very Amanda Palmer/Neil Gaiman-coded plot. Love them or hate them, the insinuation seems to be, but these women are scary powerful now.

Really enjoying Mate which has a truly excellent "here's why we CANNOT be together and we CANNOT touch each other" -- paranormal allows for that dynamic to be way bigger and dramatic in a way that imo really fits Ali's sensibilities!!

But this studio is expensive, and Ben breaks enough instruments for the lot of them, so instead she just jabs them in his the direct of his stupid face framed by stupid feathered hair that stupid MOJO magazine had put on the cover, leading to a lot of stupid autographs that Ben had signed after their show for a crowd of screaming and excessively buxom fans, while Rey lugged gear and stubbed her toe on Finn's bass amp. "I. Like. The. Bell." Ben's nostrils flare as he looks at her hand, then her face and then — for the shortest shimmer of a second, the same length of time that they need the bell in the second verse to make the song perfect — at her legs. Then he abruptly turns away. "I need a smoke," he calls over his shoulder, the fringe of his vest swinging. "No! You need to come back here and listen to the song with the bell, because what your stupid Berklee-ass doesn't understand is the fucking feeling of a good song —" Ben bangs open the door to the parking lot. The same lot where every morning, he pulls in late, gravel crunching, in his Dodge Challenger, the back seat of which Rey has gotten embarrassingly familiar with in the last two months, and as he yells back at her about when did knowing what made a good song become snobby, and Rey stomps after him, already preparing her response, as the studio door swings shut, Rey can hear Rose tell Finn, with the heavy sniff that must mean she’s finally lifted her head up from the mirrored coffee table that well, at least the label paid for another month here.
