Hi pals, I'm Kal and love books. A bit about me:

✨ I live in California
✨ I primarily read sci-fi, fantasy, horror, & thrillers
✨ When not reading, I'm outdoors or playing video games
✨ Birds have it out for me
✨ When I was a kid, I tried to turn myself into a mermaid by pouring salt into the bath
Thank you, Representative Green for your courage to stand alone for what’s right. I’m not your constituent but they are lucky to have you.

Thank you for meeting the moment. Let this be a clarion call for more dems to speak out & resist like you, AOC, & Bernie.

I feel the faintest glimmer of hope.
Last night I stood up for those who need Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Democrats will never abandon the fight to make sure every American has a safe, healthy, and financially secure life. #ISaidWhatISaid

As book lovers, it feels like Amazon’s everywhere. But it’s NOT inescapable. We need to vote w/ our wallets & stop supporting oligarchy.

This isn’t an exhaustive list but is a good starting point if you’re looking for alternatives to shift your bookish consumption away from Amazon! #BookSky #RESIST

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

this is called obeying in advance and it’s BAD, ACTUALLY.

make no mistake: labels like these are not for readers; they’re for adults who want to control content. this is the voluntary facilitation of censorship.

Vampires are finally having a bit of a renaissance in publishing. Love & lust are often at the fore of these stories, but it is a twisted love that lacks consent and is rife with exploitation.

This season of love & overconsumption, I’m sharing a list of vampire books. #booksky

#CurrentlyReading GHOST WORLD for graduate school and it’s incredible??? I picked up on media omnipresence, but by far my fave thing so far was our 20 minute psychoanalysis of Enid’s dream and discussion of how important her friendship with Becky is.

Now that 2023 is officially over, it's time for my Goodreads Wrapped! ✨

I read 23 books last year, including 10 overdue ARCs, and 52.4% of my reading was backlist. AND I hauled less than 5 books all year!
