I realize it's been a few months since I checked in over here, so what's up Bluesky?

It's been a bit since I've checked in over here. Mostly, I've been waiting for private / friends only posts. Until then... it's been difficult to figure out exactly what to share here. Maybe soon, though?

It's a small mercy, but I am looking forward to the new episodes of Cobra Kai and Yellowjackets this week.

Judge rules that Black church in DC, which won a $2.8 million default judgment against the Proud Boys, now gains control over the trademark “Proud Boys.” The far-right group is barred from selling any related merchandise or symbols without the consent of the church. Gift link:

A judge awarded the trademarked name and symbols to a Washington church to help satisfy a $2.8 million judgment against the far-right group.

In movies, just to keep it light, I rather enjoyed Zoe Kravitz’s Blink Twice. I think we’re going to have another movie night tonight and watch Heretic. Some nights, the comfort of home is strong.

Well that's one more band for me to shelve for being MAGA-aligned. See ya later, Seraphim Shock (not that you had that many bangers either way).

I did an initial inquiry into taking vacation time this year, which felt good. Of course, I don't know when or where, and my boss similarly feels that rug could be pulled out from under us making travel plain difficult... but hey, gears in motion?

Mr.Kitty dropping select US tour dates is certainly something

Looks like I have a mountain of busy work to do. The troubles of maintaining a site with a slew of whitehouse(dot)gov links, when it appears almost everything back to at least 2019 has been deleted over there.

On a positive note, it looks like I don't have to worry about a return to office. Finding this out over a Balkan buffet while chatting about Blood Incantation and Alcest with a coworker was just icing on that cake.

I wonder if our special local promoter is still fawning over the G*thsicles and plotting an attempt to book them around here.
I'm sure I know the answer, though.

Two things I still want here (and probably everyone else does, too) - privacy settings and the ability to edit your posts. C'mon Bluesky... make it happen this season...

We wrapped up watching 1899 last night - what a ride, and how annoy it got cancelled after one season. I hope the creators are working on something new... maybe I should Google that today.

TicketBastard metadata indicating that NIN tickets are likely to range from ~$45 to $180 US. Also, looks like most nights will have a 2nd stage mid-floor. Pulled from Reddit, coming to us via @timseppala.bsky.social & @tricil.bsky.social.

Maybe it's the cold, but my mind keeps going back to a quote from The Thing: “Nobody trusts anybody now… and we’re all very tired.”

Having our heat out today when it's 15 degree out is... not fun. Hooray for space heaters to at least help keep this office in the 50s.
January 22, 2025 at 4:34 PM
It will probably be like $500 / ticket, but fingers crossed it's less than that.

I know there was a whole "let's leave Meta for a week" meme going around. I didn't broadcast my participation, but it's been (considering everything going on) a rather peaceful switch. I'm sure I'll return soon enough, but it feel strangely peaceful outside that rage box.

I really can't manage many salient words here today, but there's moments I wish for a cryogenic chamber to suddenly appear and put me on snooze for the next four years.

I guess after TikTok, it’ll be interesting to see if TenCent is actually next. What a weekend.

Apparently Bluesky's looking into an Instagram replacement called Flashes. I'll have to look more into it when not on my work PC....
New Bluesky app could work as an Instagram surrogate, too

Ohhhh - so that movie about the singing monkey is the Robbie Williams movie and not a planet of the apes spinoff. Now I know!

I'm still way too amused at the possible TikTok ban pushing a large portion of their audience to Redbook.
January 14, 2025 at 9:03 PM
It's nice to see a steady climb in a follower count around here. Only a few weeks in, and I've got about 10% of what I got going on with Facebook.

With the possible ban coming up, I've gone ahead and reinstalled TikTok. Will I use it? Who knows, but at least I have a copy in case the app's yoinked from the app store.
