This is SO TRUE
Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

I just saw an ad where Alec Baldwin’s wife asks, ‘Where do you go after a tragedy?’ and apparently the answer is: A reality TV show

43 degrees outside and a guy just came in the coffee shop with two toddlers - one wearing a sleeveless top and underwear. No jacket. No pants.

This may literally be the FIRST NFL broadcast in NO since Katrina that doesn’t mention Katrina. Place your bets

Thank god we had that terrorist attack in New Orleans so the sportscasters have something besides Katrina to talk about 🙄

I tried to watch this movie Anora but it’s just a bunch of people screaming in Russian.

It’s really hard to follow.

SELA Post: I texted my neighbor to let her know my son is having a Superbowl party in the backyard; let me know if it gets too loud etc and she said, “No worries. We’ll be at the game.” 😳

There is nothing I wanted in the late 90s more than Meg Ryan’s haircut in You Got Mail

A friend posted a British Historian saying that the richest man in the world denying services to the poorest people in the country was “morally putrid” and now you see why I love words because I’ve never heard a more accurate phrase. Morally putrid.

I paid $14k in taxes last year and hoped I’d be getting some of that back.

Nope. I owe $200 more.

Yes.
One of the few things giving me a modicum of comfort at the moment is having read a lot of history books which feature story after story of headstrong upstarts with delusions of grandeur due to their proximity to power being abruptly deposed and then dragged through the streets.

Last week we had record snowfall in southeast Louisiana. Today I have the AC on in my house.

This afternoon I heard a woman in my office tell a guy on the phone, “Well you’ve wasted my whole day with this…” She’s so badass.

I actually just read this book - it was beautiful. I have this in my To Watch list.
I cannot recommend "Small Things Like These" enough. Based upon real events, anchored by a fantastic performance by Cillian Murphy, the film is an inspiring reminder of how personal acts of integrity thwart authoritarians - like Bishop Bidde's request for mercy for LGBTQ+ children and immigrants.
