Stop trying to get ahead of other people.

The only person you need to win against is your past self.

The stars seem fine. If you ever get to look at the night sky with night vision goggles on a moonless night you will be overwhelmed. Hubble took a long exposure of the darkest part of our sky and.. over 99% of the objects in the image aren't stars, they're galaxies.

Today, I visited my favourite library at Harewood House.

With the books, so many stories from past lives will fade away. If nobody is reading them anymore, they are the sole guardians of those.

Good night.

These ⬇️ are water plumes from Enceladus (moon of Saturn). Material from these plumes was picked up from Cassini during its flyby. That’s why we know about the organic substances in the subsurface ocean.

Good night.

Saturn moon Enceladus has a subsurface ocean 🌊, rich in several organic compounds. Data from Cassini now revealed Phosphorus in icy crystal emitted into space. It is an element needed for DNA. We now know that Enceladus has all ingredients for organic life as we know it. 😎 🧪

Good night!

EUCLID is a space telescope launched in July 2023. It has reached its destination: a point where the attraction from earth and sun balance out (Lagrange point). It’s mission: to measure the expansion of the universe to understand dark matter / energy. First images arrive 😎

While I try to finish editing my #scifi novel, I have published a #shortstory in Alternate History.

Camelot, 510 AD, evil found its way in the heart of the greatest king and an unjustness was born that cannot heal through time. England, 1921, a life is again on the line…

When a not too heavy star dies, the core starts collapsing under its own gravity. Its shell is pushed into space ⬇️ and a white dwarf forms.

What stops the core to collapse to a black hole?

It’s the electrons that form a QUANTUM state that cannot compressed further. 😎

Light can go around the Earth about 7 times per second and yet it is so incredibly slow. This ⬇️ is a recent picture of my favourite galaxy, but what you see are its stars 2.5 million years ago 😎.

Good night!

My mother in law has a large (crossed out) huge garden, which makes a fantastic writing ✍️ retreat.

Good morning, #authors, #writingcommunity, everyone #writing!

This ⬇️ was the view from the Cemetery this morning just before the funeral of my father in law. I found the blue sky and sun shine fitting: despite all the grief, there is a good life to celebrate.

Last night, my father in law past away in the middle of the night. He reached the age of 91 and was in good health. We just had a reunion of the wider family, at which he was in good spirits. We all knew, it would come, and yet is was unexpected. My wife and he were very close.

Good morning #authors!

Let me introduce myself. My (writing) genre is #speculativefiction and my debut novel "First Light Rising" is getting line editing at the moment. Until it sees the daylight, I have published two #shortstories. The latest just came out:

This ⬇️ contains samples from asteroid Bennu brought to Earth with OSIRIS-REx on Sunday. It now arrived at NASA’s Space Center in Houston. Care was taken not to contaminate it with Earth substances.

The probe might unlock the origins of life on Earth 😎.

Was the seed of life brought to Earth from outer space? Bennu is a carbon rich asteroid, made of material when all began 4.5b years ago.

NASA brought back 250g of this stuff yesterday. The OSIRIS-REx capsule safely landed in Utah. 😎 🍾wow!
