Hell, the only time anyone here even SHARED it was cuz I linked part of one to some observance day. No one here gives a fuck.

And frankly, it's just been getting worse & worse here. I tried to minimize it cuz my brain's too broken to quit, but apparently it's not broken enough for here.

People think all authors are rich and royalties are a bonus. HAHAHAHA. Some of the books on that list I spent years making and have literally never earned a single cent from. Every time someone buys the book, or borrows it from the library, I get closer to that day, which may still be year away.

If folks could stop comparing piracy sites to libraries, that would be awesome. Libraries are a public good who buy books in bulk to benefit their communities, and when you read those books, they buy more.

I don't think many homophobes are indulging in self-described "queer-inclusive media" to begin with. But even within non-queer narratives, asexuality upsets the belief that "everyone" experiences a desire for sex and romance. That's why non-queer bigots dislike aces.

But this is ultimately why asexuality is maligned in the queer community as well: If your definition of queerness revolves around romance and sex as proof of humanity, asexuality will always be seen as a threat.

Unfortunately, the queer community has shown that it will only support aces if we fade into the background and center other queer people's stories over our own.

Instead, ace artists are frantic to establish themselves as "the most horny" or "the best at writing smut"--whatever positions them within the circle of palatable queerness and garners their work the most praise and support.

This is an indictment, by the way, not praise. The fact that ace people can only have their art seen and valued if they erase themselves from the narrative should cause ace writers and artists more anger than it seems to.

The idea that aphobes are all gleefully making anti-ace discourse blogs on tumblr circa 2013 absolutes the queer community of actually having to THINK about how they exclude ace people. Constantly "forgetting" to include us, not actively supporting us, is exclusion.

I think that's part of the problem. No one seems to know any ace exclusionists, yet ace people are always left out or hand-waved away by queer activism and queer narratives. No one, apparently, is actively excluding ace people... they just "forget" we exist and say casually aphobic things.
