That's what happens when we let someone named Matt McCool be in charge.

In other news, the 9-year-old got her belated birthday gift, and our household is now plus one lizard. (A 3-4 month old bearded dragon whom she has named Streaks.)

I haven't had a Both Cats Bedtime Cuddle in a long time.

I think they miss the kid, who is at her grandparent's house right now.

The nearly 9-year-old, while reading: what's a tide chart?

Me: I don't know. I assume it's drawing of the beach and it shows the time that the tide will be at what level on the beach? Let's search.

Reality: [it's a list, see graphic]

Me: ... I like mine better.

Kid: I like yours better too.

This is so cut-and-dried, but the contents of the bag are what is incredibly telling.

Not the best photo, but here's Merry grooming Pippin this morning.

I went to a small museum that was having an exhibit on - I think it was iridescence? At the time. Maybe you'll enjoy these.

The cats wanted dinner last night.

Merry's food is now on a box because his back leg muscles were getting slightly atrophied and the vet wanted him to have to use them more. Witness my solution.

His food has a cardboard guard because he gets both wet and dry food. Pippin WANTS dry food.

This post brought to you by our rewatch of The Birds after yesterday's Bodega Bay pilgrimage.

This lamp in our airbnb could star in a ghibli movie.

The cats have invented religion and this is the Dry Food Vigil.

Cat ear in the light.

Fascinated by this piece of normally invisible biology made visible. It was in the same place on the other ear too.

Ok am I a middle-aged person coming upstairs after checking on my laundry, or a teenager coming home after curfew whose parents aren't angry, just disappointed?

There's more. And a cat who snuck out.

Doing my part to make your timeline a pile of blurry photos of the moon. You're welcome.

Someone worked hard on this and I applaud them.

Pippin exists. Probably.

Threw a top surgery party (a detittification party) for a dear friend today. Alliance Bakery in Chicago understood the cupcake assignment.

Label because tit cupcakes might not be suitable for work?

I finally got my own copy of the infamous 16th "male chauvinism" edition of Williams Obstetrics and I'm inordinately pleased.

This is the first time Cancer Cat has torn up toilet paper since August 14 2024.

Well, he's officially feeling better.

Today went to the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture specifically to see the current "liminal: LGBTQ+ Chicago – Boricua Imaginings" exhibit. Both the exhibit itself and watching my 8-year-old interact with the art nourished my soul in important ways.
