They conveniently leave out CA paying higher wages, having more resources, protecting consumers w/ things like their junk fee bill, SB 478, programs to offset utilities costs like offering discounted electricity to those using medical devices…

You know MAGA fears Newsom now they’ve started using legacy news & Social media on the DL to campaign how expensive CA is. If they had real policies they wouldn’t have to resort to using “daily life affordability” to scare voters. ie ⬆️ virals of restaurant bills w/ added fees, housing, utilities etc

I bet. We need more documentaries shining light on institutional failures that need reform. Institutions & programs such as hospitals, prisons, safety nets, etc are easy targets to blame by those unfamiliar with them. If top down it was explained, then thoughtful restructuring could happen.

With Trump you can’t even call it hypocrisy when everything out of his mouth is utter nonsense & lies to sell his narrative. Mr “America First,” & “people are just lazy refusing to work,” & “I like the uneducated,” all while busy deporting… is now “America simply doesn’t have skilled workers.”

Yes, there were problems that proper oversight should have dealt with, however releasing the masses of mental patients into ill equipped communities wasn't the answer. For example, some were placed in group homes with inadequate care, and ended up frequent ER visitors simply needing attention.

Exactly. There’s prisons that are absolutely inhumane but no one thinks doing away with them as a solution is the answer. So why TF do they take this approach with MH, medical care, food, safety nets… FIX the damn problem!

It was an issue with lack of oversight & regulation. However the “throw the baby out w/ the bath water” approach is NOT the solution. These knee jerk reactions need to end as problems, decades in the making, won’t be solved overnight.

Plus I’ve lost count the times explaining to MAGA on how the lack of MH/Medical care leads to self-medicating and substance abuse. MAGA will spend a lot of time complaining about issues yet never addressing causation let alone solutions 😔
