Tonight's ISS pass. Last minute decision to go out for it, taking advantage of the (relatively) clear skies.

Recently re-elected independent Cornwall Councillor Dulcie Tudor apparently believes 2025 is the time for LGBTQ+ people to 'fuck off'.

Prince of Wales CSG escorts operating in the Plymouth danger areas along with an RAF P-8 Poseidon. The carrier itself isn't broadcasting AIS, but you can be sure it's still hanging around here.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Sec of State for Defence John Healey arrive at RNAS Culdrose on board an Airbus A400M Atlas C1 this evening. They departed out to sea on an RN helicopter, presumably for a visit to HMS Prince of Wales.

RFA Mounts Bay arriving into Falmouth earlier today, sailing past sister ship RFA Cardigan Bay.

With HMS Scott and HMS Severn also in, and RFA Argus as a recent departure, it probably surprises some that it's not actually an RN port.

Dry Tree menhir, or standing stone, on Goonhilly Downs. 3 metres tall and made of gabbro, which is not native to the downs. The nearest source is a few miles away, so clearly it was put there for a good reason. Gave its name to RAF Dry Tree, a WW2 Chain Home station nearby.

The Lysander was an underappreciated hero of WW2. Obsolete in its initial patrol/spotting role early in the war, its STOL performance and excellent low-speed handling were put to use flying support resistance operations in occupied Europe under the cover of darkness.

Half-Moon Battery at Pendennis Castle was originally constructed in the early 1800s, and then upgraded progressively until just after the Second World War. The 6in guns mounted during WW2 saw active combat defending Falmouth Bay from German E boats.

On Wednesday 18th Dec, Truro Cathedral hosted 'Carols with Pride', featuring an LGBTQ+ choir, poetry from Jay Hulme, and readings from several LGBTQ+ individuals. Privilege to photograph this historic service.

St Michael's Mount, like the French Mont Saint-Michel, is an island linked to the mainland by a tidal causeway. When the tide's in, the island is accessible by water only. The island actually has a small funicular railway, for cargo only, from the harbour up to the castle.

Davidstow Moor was the site of a WW2 RAF airfield, which later hosted three #Formula1 races before falling into disuse. A main road now bisects the airfield, but microlights still operate there making it the highest active airfield above sea level in the UK (970ft).

This 1948 Grumman F8F Bearcat spent only 9 years with the U.S. Navy before being sold to the civilian market, quickly outpaced by jet aircraft. It's been operated by The Fighter Collection from Duxford Aerodrome since 1981.

Bodmin Keep is the museum of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, and is an incredible repository of artifacts and information about military conflicts from the 1700s to modern times. The collection includes a piece of the Berlin Wall, as well as a Victoria Cross.

Flambards theme park, which recently announced its closure, originally opened in 1976 as Cornwall Aero Park, an aviation museum. Until closing there was still a museum section containing a Shackleton nose section, Concorde engineering mockup, and Blitz experience.

Maen Castle, near Sennen, is a cliff fort dating to the Iron Age. The Cornish coast is littered with archaeological remains of these types of fortification. Nearby is the wreck of RMS Mulheim which ran aground near here in 2003.

Porthkerris was home to an observation post for a torpedo range in Falmouth Bay operated by the Aircraft Torpedo Development Unit. The round shuttered section housed cameras and tracking equipment to record torpedo test launches. The facility closed in the 1990s.

Truro Cathedral looks ancient but is actually just over 100 years old, completed in 1910 after 30 years of construction. The oldest part is the 16th century St Mary's Aisle, the only surviving part of the parish church which previously occupied the site.

The Lizard Lighthouse, one of the oldest in the UK still operating, dates back to 1619, with the current building built in the mid 1700s. The original light struggled with maintenance funds, being unpopular with locals who benefited from the salvage of shipwrecks.

Working on a photography project partly based in London, not sure exactly when it'll be out yet, but gonna give Bluesky the first look at some of it. It's not very cohesive yet but I think it'll make sense in its final form...
