no joke might be worth an extra win or two next year

Should mention a different version of that image is at about 51:20 of the episode

For anyone interested, a similar engraving is seen in the July 31, 1858 Illustrated London News and this is the link via @archive.org to the highest res image. Let's see if this works

Totally understand that. Unfortunately not isolated to PSU either in Big 10. For ex: Michigan still hasn't reckoned with Bo Schembechler's own abuse scandal of 850+ players and still has his name up around campus. At least PSU took the statue down

The latest damning allegations that Schembechler knew about Anderson's constant abuse and even saved him from being fired at one point paint the legendary coach as incredibly cruel — and it may foreve...

23.) And finally look at ISU fb progress:

McCarney = defib paddles, birth of modern ISU fb
Chizik = fancy hire due to improved ISU rep, great recruits
Rhoads = first to show many top 25 upsets were possible
Campbell = high floor coach, first to win 10+, NFL players

JFR = first conf title, book it?
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
22.) Oh yes, ISU absolutely DID end their conference title drought in 2020. Will never convince me otherwise. Conf. champ games are a money grab and for something like 80 years, they didn't even exist. Wasn't one of those fake ones others have either, ISU beat every team, print the shirts! #champs

20.) Fully expect PSU in playoffs next yr, schedule looks easy

21.) (Hard to say no to staying with fave boss and friends, job promotion, big $$ increase, natty possible)

21.) Maybe Campbell/Rogers dynamic will be similar to Hoiberg/TJ with Hoiberg success in Big 10 but TJ better for ISU long-term
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
16.) Might be unpopular, I'll temporarily root for PSU success next yr due to "our" ISU players going there, lots of high character people

17.) They'll always be Cyclones to me, lots of great memories that aren't erased by leaving, will welcome back

18.) Esp. Rocco, great young man, now ISU grad!
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
13.) Fiesta bowl was a bit fraudulent, but the Pop Tart bowl was elite, was preview of a potential champ season in 2025 or 2026

14.) From coaching/player standpoint, imo biggest drop off = Clanton/OL talent. Bigggg challenge

15.) OL and S & C coaches are hard to eval, need few yrs, CMC had whiffs
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
10.) Will be nice not worrying about CMC rumors every year

11.) JFR is from AZ but cld be our long term guy - he stayed at SDSU from 2005-2024 (except for one GA year in FL)

12.) Due to local FCS recruiting exp. will JFR find overlooked players from tiny IA towns that Iowa always seems to unearth
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
7.) CMC was great w/ hiring young talented coaches and moving on from errors. Hope JFR can do same (imo big reason for Ferentz's success)

8.) Early signs = promising by leaving behind WSU off. coaches & giving Roehl keys, some Campbell continuity

9.) DC Bobbit = future HC, hope he stays for a bit
December 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
4.) Fully expect ISU to be a bowl team next year. Like TJ year 1, defense travels. Lots of coaching talent there

5.) Heacock was incredible, but ready to see fast LBs again

6.) LB coaching/recruiting hasn't been the best for a while, so if Ebel, Bacon, etc leave, might actually be an upgrade

It's always been lame imo. Best CFB player doesn't = only QB, WR, or RB, which are the only positions to win since inception in 1935. Ironic thing was that John Heisman was a lineman back in the day

this happens to me all the time. I was looking up something earlier and google AI was absolutely CONVINCED that Rocco was the Hawkeyes QB
December 22, 2025 at 9:17 PM
believe people on CF have said it's likely, plus if I remember correctly, altho he was only a position coach Roehl still had influence w/ Lions offense ex: Maryland formation
