Look for a columbarium in your area and take his remains there - we did this for my mom’s remains as we liked there being a permanent place for them. It also prevents them being problematic for future generations

I suspect most people would consider it disrespectful. We are there to observe a solemn occasion and are taking time to think of those who were lost and the horrific effects of war. I certainly would not appreciate you trying to lighten the mood
