3D printing all the things
I did not expect the print head to agree that the warped first attempt was junk and try to take it to the waste chute when I paused the print.
Sometimes you just need a brim when #3Dprinting stuff.

#3Dprinting research: I have been looking at 1930s #trains to decide what color of filament to use for a train model.
Now I want a car that's shaped like an art deco train. And I wonder how did I not know such cool trains existed?!?

#TwoForTuesday #3Dprinting thoughts.
I don't know why STL vendors don't do two things for their customers.
1/2: *Minimal* model simplification to reduce file sizes. I just saw one piece go from 79.5mb to 6.2mb: a 92% reduction in file size with NO visual differences. Save space & up/download time!

I just used 'spreadsheet' as a verb.
My spouse laughed.
(He's probably surprised I haven't put the current shopping project into a spreadsheet already. Price comparisons, y'know.)

#FilamentFriday has me trying to figure out what filament color to use for a new set of buildings. So, as one does, I went to Amazon to see what filaments are on sale. For inspo.
There's an Elegoo-branded set of sparkle filaments that looks IDENTICAL to the Bambu-branded set that I got last year....

Hey Democrats in Congress: Want to make points with Americans on the left AND the right?

Propose that in this next budget members of Congress DO NO GET PAID during government shutdowns!

If the military, air traffic controllers, and so many others won't, neither should YOU!

You're welcome!

And if a software bug wasn't enough fun for one day, the main part fan is not working.
Support case filed. Expected turnaround time is measured in days. :-(

"Hi, I see you've just started using our new version! I'm your first bug!"
Only took 15 seconds for a bug to show up this time. It was on my third click.
They broke something that had been working in every version I've used since last December.

#FilamentFriday thoughts are really about Saturday. I can't march due to health issues. My role must be that of a supporter, a cheerleader, a cleric, a bard. So I shall print things that will hopefully bring joy to others, so that when they take a break they can also recharge for another round.

Report from a driver friend: #ICE raiders were at Lyft/Uber driver waiting areas at #O'Hare airport, twice today, at 10:30am and 2:15pm.
(Yeah, it was hours ago, but heads up in case y'all might be in the area.)

#FilamentFriday sees the first *Christmas* sale ad of the year.
Yo, Sunlu, it ain't even Halloween yet, WTAF??

#WeirdWednesday brings us a Music Thought of the Day:
Counting in 7/4 is deeply weird.
OTOH, it's Rush, so 7/4 is to be expected. Along with 5/8 and whatever other oddball time signatures like "WTAF even IS that time signature?"

#3Dprinting part terminology is...inconsistent at best. Knowing that the "part fan" IS the "front housing fan" would've saved me a couple of hours of troubleshooting.

Replaced PTFE tube. Forgot which way the back tube holder thingy goes on. Important? for tiny round blue clip that holds ??? in place there. Finally found video with pic.
Went to replace tube holder thingy and blue clip.
Dropped blue clip into printer. #facepalm

On all the "[#] steps to fascism" lists I've seen, at least 80% of them have happened recently in the US.
If you live outside the US: Do not go to that country while its fascist government is in power.
If you live in the US: GTFO if you can.

Start of the #FilamentFriday playlist, Carly Simon's 3D printing song.

First I've heard of this idea, but I like it.
Activities for the day could include music, reading, donating books, and the movie of the day.

#3dprinted on #FilamentFriday, stuff I did not expect to print when I bought the silk copper filament:
Copper pipes for tabletop miniature games.

Spending so much time in #3D apps -- both #3Dprinting and #3Dmodeling -- that I'm finding myself trying to rotate photos so I can see what's behind something in the picture.

CVS has called to let me know that I can get a covid booster the day after Gov. Pritzker signed the "anyone can get a covid shot" paperwork.
For y'all in states where they might ask about high-risk issues and vaccine relevancy, here's a helpful doctor's note.
I like this. Since under RFK Jr, Covid shots are now for people with underlying conditions that put them at risk, Michigan’s chief medical executive Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian states that not having the most recent Covid shot constitutes such an underlying condition.

#FilamentFriday and I'm test-printing some tabletop game scenery tiles.
"Silver" filament is *sometimes* metallic, depending on brand! Thus it took 9 tries to figure out optimum settings for these.
2 brands of filament, 3 layer heights, ~80min per tile.
